Up-regulation of anti-oxidant enzymes gene expression by steroid intermediates. Y1-BS1 cells were treated with or without HDL3 (30 μg/ml), 22(R)-diol (10 μM) or pregnenolone (10 μM) for various hours. RNA were isolated and reversed transcribed before subject to qRT-PCR analyses of SOD1, SOD2, GPX1 and CAT mRNA levels. 36B4 was used as internal control.
