Inhibition of p38 MAPK blocked the phosphorylation of CREB by steroid intermediates. Y1-BS1 cells were pre-treated without (a) or with (b) p38 MAPK inhibitor (10 μM) overnight. Cells were then incubated with HDL3 (30 μg/ml), 22(R)-diol (10 μM) or pregnenolone (10 μM) for 20 min. At the end of the incubation, cell lysates were subjected to SDS–PAGE followed by western blotting analysis. Data shown are representative of three independent experiments
