Immunofluorescent staining of histological sections from the testis biopsy of the patient carrying the HFM1 variants using peanut agglutinin (PNA, brown) conjugated to rhodamine to locate the acrosome of spermatid. Compared with the control, the spermatid was absent in testis from men harboring biallelic HFM1 variants, indicating a premetaphase arrest. Hoechst (blue) was stained as a nuclear marker.
