Effects of DMPA on the percentages of CXCR4⁺ and CCR5⁺ cells in peripheral blood and endocervical T cells. Women were treated with DMPA as described. PBMCs and endocervical cells were isolated at enrollment and approximately 3–4 weeks later. The percentages of CXCR4⁺ cells and CCR5⁺ cells in peripheral blood (a) and endocervical CD4⁺ and CD8⁺ T cells (b) were analyzed using flow cytometry.
