In vitro maturation of oocytes in a maturation medium with added FSH and hCG and in a co-culture with follicular (granulosa) cells retrieved by mechanical denudation of the same oocytes before in vitro maturation. Oocytes were covered by granulosa cells, forming a primitive follicle-like structure. Two oocytes matured in vitro to the metaphase II (MII) stage and extruded a polar body (arrow) (a-d).
