Effect of altering AMPK on progesterone production by granulosa cells. a The AMPK activator, 5-Aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide-1-β-4-ribofuranoside [AICAR], inhibited progesterone production by human luteinized mural granulosal cells at all dosages tested. In b, the AMPK inhibitor, dorsomorphin [DM], did not affect basal progesterone production. Asterisks indicate a difference of (P < 0.05) from control value.
