  1. The genotype was identified by PCR analysis as described in Methods. Signs of estrous cycle stage were assigned retrospectively on the basis of vaginal histology. The 1st cohort comprises animals at a mixed C3H/B6 background, the 2nd cohort comprises animals at a B6 background.
