Immunofluorescent staining of ERα and CD14 observed in the retrodiscal tissue of the TMJ in all four treatment groups. A) No E2/saline, B) No E2/CFA, C) E2/saline, D) E2/CFA. The sections were immunohistochemically stained with mouse anti-ERα and goat polyclonal anti- CD14 primary antibodies followed by anti-mouse Alexa 488 conjugated (green) and anti-goat Alexa 633 conjugated (red) secondary respectively. ERα nuclear with CD14 cytoplasmic staining (arrows), ERα cytoplasmic staining (arrowhead), ERα nuclear staining (open arrowhead) and CD14 staining (open arrow) were observed.
