Blocked embryos derived from 24 hrs in-vitro aged oocytes after ICSI. Scattered DNA is observed in all embryos. Embryos 3a, 3c, and 3e are not associated with positive TUNEL assay (3b, 3d, 3f). Most embryos contain cell fragments, empty of chromatin. Embryo 3 g has some cells with clear apoptotic (Ap) events identified by the TUNEL assay (3h). Left panel: bright field.
