The SC shows mitochondria with tubular cristae (Mi) and an irregular nuclear portion with condensed chromatin is observed in the apical portion (white asterisk). In all extension of the plasma membrane, the hemidesmosomes (white arrowheads) are detached from the thickened basal lamina (Bl) and surrounded by a thin lamina of amorphous matrix (inset; arrowheads).
