SCT = syncytiotrophoblast; IVTB =intravascular trophoblast; VSM = smooth muscle. Necrotic areas in late gestation in the central portion of the utero-placental unit were identified by the disruption of the tissues. Negative and positive sections observed in different animals, or faint signal (±); positive signal in all animals (+).
